Sweet Love, Jaime + Ben

It was a hot day in the Florida Keys, the sun reflecting on the white sand, the water glistening and hustle and bustle of Jaime and Ben's wedding getting underway. Jaime's family has been coming to the Keys for years and it was an easy decision when it came time for her and Ben to choose their wedding location.
Jaime and Ben have the kind of love you notice, something rare and special. The laughing, drawn out kisses and soft glances made it hard not to smile along while witnessing such a sweet love.
After their I-do's on the beach, guests enjoyed dinner on the sand at the beautiful
Morada Bay Beach Cafe which is truly picture perfect with it's colorful chairs, mason jar drinks and just the right kind of Key's charm. After dancing on the beach and what seemed to be a perfect evening, Jaime and Ben were surprised with a fireworks display over the water. A perfect ending to an amazing night and the perfect beginning for a beautiful couple in love.

A Destination Wedding by the Sea, Jen +Jeff

Destination Wedding in the Keys, Deanne + Michael

Deanne and Michael are one of those couples you love to watch together. They spent most of their wedding day laughing together and couldn't have been happier. The day started out cloudy with a chance of showers and cleared just before their ceremony to give them beautiful light and a gorgeous sunset.

Rather than number their tables 1-12 they chose numbers that were significant to them, important dates, how many weeks they'd been engaged, etc. I loved this idea and the tables looked so cute with numbers like 72, 3, 35... !

Bridal Market NYC

Last week I spent a few days in New York with Katie of Aisle Candy wedding blog and had an amazing time. I love the energy of New York, the people watching, the style and the never-ending motion. It is a perfect place to get inspired and fuel new ideas.
While there, we got our first glimpse of Bridal Market, ran all over the city trying to soak it all in, and even did an amazing inspirational shoot for Aisle Candy (coming soon!). We also stumbled upon
Tara LaTour who completely amazed us with her one of a kind wedding gown designs that are truly works of art. As Katie mentioned on Aisle Candy, she is truly a breath of fresh in the gown market and I can't wait to see what beauty she produces next.

A Florida Keys Wedding at Pierre's, Jennifer + Tim

Jennifer and Tim hosted their wedding at the beautiful Pierre's in Islamorada. They started their day getting ready at the Moorings Village and taking portraits on their picturesque property. Jennifer looked beautiful and was nothing but laughs throughout the day. They chose a crab as the weekend's mascot, which graced everything from their invitation to custom Saucony sneakers for all of the guests! After the ceremony Jennifer and Tim boarded a boat for a short cruise to watch the sunset and catch a glimpse of the super moon, so beautiful!

A Beach Wedding at the Cheeca Lodge, Jacque + Bret

Some people have that little something, a sparkle or energy that people can't help but notice or laugh along with. Jacque has this something. Together with Bret, they make such a fun couple... so full of love, life and plenty of laughs. Never taking herself too seriously Jacque embraced her wedding day with open arms. Mother nature smiled right back at her delivering sunshine and a beautiful day on the beach. With the help of Parrish Designs Jacque incorporated details of driftwood, cherry blossoms and coral that complimented the Cheeca Lodge's natural beauty. Later they danced the night away (to some of the most amazing music I have ever heard) compliments of The Flashdance. Congratulations Jacque and Bret!

I had a beautiful morning here running a half marathon along the beach and watching the sun come up- amazing! Now it's time to get packed and head to Las Vegas this afternoon for WPPI. Though it's tough to leave 75 and sunny behind, I'm so excited to see old friends, learn something new and to be inspired. I'll see you in a week!

A Romantic Miami Beach Wedding ~ Natalia + Eric

An intimate evening, a lovely bride and handsome groom and stunning details made this wedding so wonderful to photograph. Natalia and Eric hosted forty of their closest family and friends at the modern and exclusive Setai in South Beach. Natalia was beautiful in her flowing gown accompanied by stunning jewelry from Tiffany. To match the feel of their modern venue, Natalia later traded her ivory chiffon sash for a long black sash tied in a soft bow. The day was beautifully intimate and such a pleasure to be apart of.

The Breakers of Palm Beach, originally built in 1896, is a masterpiece of elegance, history and tradition. Ashley and Luke couldn't have found a better setting for their romantic and timeless wedding. They exchanged vows overlooking the ocean and the hotel's namesake breakers that line the beach. Later guests opened the doors to a beautifully light and utterly breathtaking ambiance in the Circle ballroom. Must love dogs..

As many of you know I am an animal lover through and through. When I'm not busy with weddings I am probably hanging with Chad and Axl and scheming on a plan to save the world's endangered species. So, I was really excited when BARK magazine contacted me about using my images of couples who had involved their dogs in the wedding celebration. Jen and Rud are on the cover of this months Bark magazine with their adorable dog, Henry. Their images is also featured in the article giving tips on how to successfully incorporate man's best friend into your big day, a must read! I hope to see more dogs in my upcoming weddings!

Free Flowing Gowns, A Bridal Editorial in New Jersey

I am so excited to finally share this editorial story that we shot in New Jersey this fall. You can see more images from this shoot featured on Wedding Chicks blog today. I collaborated with talented stylist and producer Beth Mosner who hand picked the beautiful gowns that we featured. The Ashford Estate was the perfect location and boosts a stunning mansion, barn and tree lined driveway. Hair was beautifully done by my sister in law Katy and makeup by Miriam (both out of NYC). Petal Pushers provided us with the gorgeous bouquets including my new favorite, the purple artichoke. Thank you to everyone that put their hearts in this shoot!

An Intimate Islamorada Wedding, Maria + Ralph

Intimate weddings have such a charm and sweetness about them that I love to capture, and this wedding was no exception.  Sunny skies, kisses and laughter were the ingredients for this intimate Islamorada affair.  The day was such a pleasure to be a part of and we couldn't have gotten to know a sweeter couple.  Maria and Ralph are so in love and have so much fun together I couldn't help but laugh along with them behind my camera.  Maria was amazing with her details and had me green with envy when I saw her gorgeous heels, they are definitely show stoppers and my new favorites!  With gorgeous colorful details, a first dance on the beach, and sparklers this wedding left little to be desired.    Congratulations Maria and Ralph, keep laughing together!

A Islamorada Destination Wedding, Emily + Will

Emily and Will hosted an intimate destination wedding at the Cheeca Lodge & Spa in Islamorada, Florida. Forty of their closest family and friends traveled from Texas to join in the casual celebration. Emily and Will were married by Emily's Grandfather who had not only married her parents but baptized Emily as well. The couple exchanged vows with a stunning view of the ocean and crystal clear sky. The wedding truly couldn't have been more pleasant.
It was such a pleasure to be apart of such an intimate affair and get to know all of the couple's lovely family and feel the warmth of their southern hospitality. Congrats Emily and Will!

Jose Villa Workshop in Mexico

Last month Chad and I packed our bags and headed to Guadalajara, Mexico to attend our wedding photographer, Jose Villa's Workshop. We stayed at a 300 year old Hacienda, El Carmen which was beyond gorgeous and one of a kind. We spent a week with a handful of the wedding industries top professionals and talented photographers from all over the world. The entire trip was inspiring and truly a breath of fresh air. I had a lot of fun shooting both film and digital and shooting in such a gorgeous setting. We both made so many great friends and I hope we have the opportunity to reunite with them all again soon.

Here are a few of the wedding images I shot while there...

A Key West Wedding

Greeted with golden winter light and perfect temperatures, Jennifer and Rell couldn't have been offered a more perfect day. Casa Marina played host to their intimate destination wedding in Key West with guests from all over the country. The mood was beautifully relaxed as they exchanged vows on the beach and later strolled arm in arm watching the sunset. Jennifer and Rell have been together for 11 years and their ease and comfort with one another was apparent as they spent most of the day laughing. It was a beautiful event and a perfect way to end our amazing year of weddings.
I can't wait until 2011!!

A downtown Miami wedding, Leslie & Felipe

Leslie and Felipe stunned at their downtown Miami wedding. Not only are they a beautiful couple but they are truly genuine and sweet people. Leslie was an exquisite bride that didn't miss a single detail. She chose a Vera Wang from Ever After Miami (my favorite) for her wedding day. The day was filled to the brim with lovely details, sweet smiles and ended with an unbelievable view of the Miami skyline.

Jen & Rud, A Palm Beach Gardens Wedding

New York City natives Jennifer and Rutherford hosted a destination wedding in Palm Beach Gardens at the tranquil Frenchman's Creek Country Club. Jen was stunning in her jeweled Monique Lhuillier gown and sparkling Christian Louboutins. Their dog Henry joined them for portraits on the beach wearing a floral adorned collar and was so adorable! The couple exchanged vows on the terrace overlooking the golf course and later danced the night away to the band City Lights of Miami. Congratulations Jen and Rud, enjoy Cancun!

A Florida Wedding, Valeria & Patrick

I always say that when I walk into the bridal suite and am greeted with a stunning wedding dress I know it's going to be a great day. That is exactly what happened on Saturday when I began my day with Valeria's gorgeous Vera Wang dress from my favorite bridal boutique Ever After. After getting ready, Valeria and her father shared a ride to the picturesque Plymouth Congregational Church of Coconut grove in a vintage silver and blue Rolls Royce. Valeria and Patrick later headed to the Rusty Pelican to celebrate with the Miami skyline as their backdrop. It was a very heartfelt and emotional day for both Valeria and Patrick and a pleasure to capture. Congratulations to them and their families!

New York City Wedding at Gramercy Park Hotel, Pola & Oliver

There is something about a gorgeous New York City wedding that makes everyone's heart do a little flip. Perhaps it's the timeless feel of the city, the excitement that floats through the New York air, or the facts that it is the fashion capital and simply romantic. Pola and Oliver, both originally from Germany, fell for New York's charm many years ago. Their ceremony took place at the architecturally grand St. Paul's chapel of Columbia University. They later chose a NYC Taxi Cab to drive them from their ceremony to the Gramercy Park Hotel, which can only be described as True Blood meets european flair. The exclusive venue played host to their rooftop terrace reception and cocktail hour 16 floors above the city. The cocktail hour was chic romantic with the amazing Bon Musique playing under hundreds of light bulbs. Pola and Oliver shared an intimate dinner with their guests and enjoyed speeches in English and German before dancing the night away under the stars. The entire affair was elegant and so perfectly New York.

Congratulations Pola & Oliver, such a beautiful wedding can only lead to a beautiful life.

Succulents, succulents...

If you haven't gotten the memo: succulents rock! They are gorgeous in bouquets, on wedding tables and even on your cake. Here are succulents I shot while in Hawaii on our honeymoon (yes, the full wedding post is coming soon, I promise!). I absolutely love the color palette in this image and think it would translate beautifully to any wedding.

A Wedding at Palm Beach's Omphoy, Andrea & Nils

Andrea and Nils hosted a classy wedding day celebration at Palm Beach's posh Omphoy Hotel. The ceremony was beach side on the hotel terrace and the couple tied the knot under a wooden pagoda. Cocktails followed in the hotel lounge where guests greeted the newlyweds with cheers. Dinner was served upstairs in Michelle Bernstein's restaurant where guests celebrated the night away singing traditional Swedish songs and toasting with Swedish vodka!
Andrea and Nils' wedding was a delight to shoot and the couple looked stunning as you can see from this sneak peek. Enjoy!

An Elegant Farm Wedding in Chicago, Alexa & Tom

Alexa and Tom were married on their family farm, Ivanhoe Farms just outside of Chicago. The farm is absolutely stunning and was the perfect backdrop for their elegant affair. The farm has been in their family for generations and is full of stunning antiques and heirlooms, an amazing place for a wedding. Alexa wore a timeless Vera Wang gown while the men wore classic tuxedos. After their small church ceremony the couple released Monarch butterflies before they departed in the family's vintage Rolls Royce. The cocktail hour was poolside accompanied by a trio of strings and floating floral arrangements. Later the guests danced to the TVK Orchestra under a high top tent. It was truly an elegant affair and we had such a blast shooting in such a unique destination with such wonderful families. We can't wait to get back to Chicago!

Officially T - One Month and Our Wedding Photographer is...

I have been so busy with weddings every weekend that I haven't had much to plan and blog about our own wedding. Today, May 11th, we are officially a month away! It is amazing how quickly 2 years (Yes, engaged for almost 2 years!) has flown by and all the things that I put off til 'later' are now upon us. While I am intentionally not blogging all the details just yet (have to keep some things a surprise) I do promise complete blog posts detail by detail after the wedding. I have already learned so much about planning and weddings and how it is all so much fun and all so hard! I think that planning a wedding is an ultimate self exploration and you learn so much about partner as well. While I still have yet to feel what it is like to experience the day I have taken over a year to plan, I have learned enough to know it will be over in the
blink of an eye!
That is why, for us, photography was absolutely number one (shocker!). Deciding on a photographer for our wedding was beyond challenging. Not only did we have many talented friends offer to help us capture our day, but there are so many talented photographers I admire and I am incredibly indecisive! We wanted our friends to be at the wedding as 'friends' and wanted a photographer whose style reflected the type of wedding we are choosing to have and how we want to remember it. After months of debate and soul searching we both excitedly agreed that we wanted none other than
Jose Villa to capture our day. He is one of the most talented photographers and artists in the business and his work is one of a kind. Jose's style embodies everything I was looking for... it is real, natural, breathtaking and romantic. He loves outdoor locations, details and one of a kind events- simply perfect! Here are a few of the many reasons we love Jose so much and can't wait to have him at our wedding

(all images copyright Jose Villa)

Need I say more? I love living behind the camera, and for maybe the first time ever can't wait to be in front of the lens!!! Check out Jose's blog for more gorgeous wedding inspiration.

Facebook & Grace Ormonde

Last week Chad and I headed to the book launch party for Grace Ormonde at the Mandarian Oriental in Miami Beach. Grace launched her new book 'being in love never goes out of style', which is just beautiful. This is the second time I have had the pleasure to meet Grace, she is truly a legend with so much style and no pun intended... grace. They had a few drop dead gorgeous table settings for us to admire that are sure to inspire all brides. I have posted a few of them here and the rest of the images on our page on Facebook, come check it out and 'Like' us- too funny right?

I am in love with this setting and the glassware. If anyone can tell me where to find those wine glasses, I will love you forever!

Fountainebleau Yacht Wedding, Ayser and Chris

Ayser and Chris had and intimate destination wedding hosted at Miami Beach's Foutainebleau. Ayser transcended old hollywood glamour and looked beautiful in her custom gown. The couple wed atop a 150 foot yacht cruising the Miami waterways while their 70 guests watched. After dining atop the boat the guests were treated to a Turkish belly dancer, a tradition for weddings in Ayser's native Turkey. She was amazing and set the tone for the rest of the evening which consisted of dancing and drinks while enjoying the cityscapes from the water. Congrats Ayser and Chris!

They even managed to wake up and get dressed up again for the sunrise- WOW!

A Palm Beach Wedding, Danae & Matt

Danae and Matt sealed their vows with an elegant ceremony at the Royal Poinciana Chapel of Palm Beach and later that night celebrated at Seagate Beach Club. It was a traditional and elegant affair with a bit of relaxed beach vibe which was a stunning combination. They were all smiles as they danced the night away before a sparkler farewell. Congrats Danae and Matt!

Islamorada Wedding at Pierre's- Andrea and Ariel

Pierre's of Islamorada embodies relaxed elegance, and casual luxury. We have the opportunity to photograph weddings here often and it always amazes me how each couple can transform it and make it their own. With the help of Guerdy of Ocean Flowers they added their touch to the stunning property and created a dramatic and elegant reception room. Andrea looked stunning in a open back Monique Lhuillier while the bridesmaids wore flowing Jim Hjelm gowns. Andrea and Ariel are so beautiful together and so clearly in love. Congrats to the newlyweds!

Kiera and Mike, Married!

Less than a quarter of a mile from the hustle of downtown Fort Lauderdale and AIA lies a quiet oasis of nature and history. The Bonnet House is a step into old Florida and served as the ideal location for Kiera and Mike to exchange their vows. Here is a glimpse of their day...

Love birds.
Love this image Chad took during the reception

Jeni & Seth, Married!

When I walked into the bridal suite to see a gorgeous organza Vera Wang and shimmering Jimmy Choo heels atop the bed, I knew it was going to be a good day. To say that I loved this wedding would be a little bit of an understatement. Jeni started her wedding day in a suite at La Playa Resort in Naples while getting her makeup done with a clear view of the turquoise waters. The mood of the day was relaxed and elegant with the guests taking of their shoes to step into the sand for the sunset ceremony. The bridesmaids stunned in long Vera Wang gowns, while the groomsmen strolled in with khaki Jcrew suits with pink ascots. The beach was beautiful, and being on the west coast of Florida ensured the sunset right behind the ceremony and cocktail. At cocktail guests were greeted with a cigar roller and a sand castle for Jeni and Seth- so cute! Jeni and Seth were absolutely beautiful together and so relaxed. Later they danced the night away before a sparkler farewell... Congratulations to the newlyweds it was such a pleasure!

Maria & Andy, Married!

For the second time this month we had the opportunity to drive south and trade in the hustle and traffic of Miami for the slow relaxed beat of the Keys. Maria and Andy hosted their wedding at the luxurious Hawks Cay Resort and Spa on Duck Key. Maria looked stunning in a flowing gown from Coral Gables Bridal and had the most amazing makeup done by Daniela of MAC (daniela0515@hotmail.com 305-801-3676), really girls, call her! Events by Mariel coordinated the day perfectly down to the last detail and added amazing touches to the already beautiful location. After cocktails at a lagoon side lounge guests were treated to an energetic party in the waterfront ballroom where parasols hung from the ceiling. Congrats Maria and Andy!

Before eloping in the islands Nadja and Tyson joined me for some wedding portraits on the beach. They are such a stunning couple and so clearly head over heels in love. The weather, the beach and the light couldn't have been any better, it was simply beautiful...

Mackenzie & Keys, Married!

Hawks Cay, and island oasis nestled on Duck Key in the heart of the Florida Keys, played host to Mackenzie and Keys (insert namesake irony joke here...) wedding. The photos of the location speak for themselves, the resort is gorgeous, relaxing, and fun to shoot! We started with portraits dockside at the marina while groups of friends cheered on the couple to be. Shortly after 5:00 the couple met in front of 75 guests as perfect March weather laid the framework for the perfectly simple ceremony. Mackenzie and Keys had a small yet elegant waterfront ceremony complete with white gazebo and flip flops that epitomized the "Keys" feel. The couple said their vows and then set off to enjoy cocktails around a stone fire pit and later enjoyed local faire amongst family and friends in the resort's unique octagonal reception hall. The night's festivities were soon capped by mini key lime pies and drinks at the bar. I have to say their wedding was a perfect example of simplistic elegance at its best. Congratulations to the newlyweds!

I can't even begin to say enough about this stunning couple from Ecuador. Not only did they do the bulk of the planning for this wedding in a few short months, but they planned a lovely and charming event. Ana is so sweet and was beyond gorgeous on her wedding day. She wore a custom made gown from Ecuador with a cathedral length veil, and as you can see she was breathtaking and so much fun to photograph! Javier's suit was also custom made and I loved the three piece look, so classic. They got ready at the Mondrian Hotel in South Beach which is an ultra chic and ultra modern hotel making it perfect for a first meeting and portraits. A vintage white Rolls Royce drove Ana to the church, and after an intimate ceremony the couple hosted over 150 guests at the Mother of the Bride's home. It was truly a romantic and lovely evening. Thanks so much to Monica of International Event Design, Chad for second shooting, and Ana and Javier who were truly a pleasure to work with! Enjoy French Polynesia!

So romantic, so beautiful...

Because we could all use a little more laughter in our lives... Happy Monday!

Ann & Eric, Married!

With a twist of modern details and traditional ceremonies Ann and Eric tied the knot by candlelight in Aventura, Florida. Ann was absolutely stunning and even barred the unusually cold temperatures to shoot on the beach, she was truly a superhero. Both Ann and Eric added a bit of personality to their ensemble with stylish shoes (blue for Ann and Jordans for Eric!). The reception was nonstop dancing and the Music Machine band rocked the house. Congrats Ann & Eric!

Looking back at 2009...

I can't quite swallow that today is New Years Eve and tomorrow is 2010. It has been an incredible year, and also incredibly quick! I've had so much to be thankful for in 2009, and am so excited to see what 2010 brings. It's gonna be a good one, I can feel it!
I thought I'd take a moment a look back at a few of my favorite images from 2009...

Published & Best of The Knot 2010!

I'm excited to announce that Maria and Henrique's gorgeous Islamorada wedding at Pierre's has been featured in the new Spring/Summer Issue of The Knot Florida. It is such a wonderful magazine and I'm so honored to have a wedding in this issue.
Too add to my excitement KT Merry Photography has been named Best of The Knot - South Florida 2010! This list is featured in the same issue on newsstands now. Thanks so much to all the brides that voted for us! The Knot will be launching the 'Best of 2010' list on their website on January 22nd, 2010, check it out!!

Jen & Brian, Married!

Jen and Brian had beautiful and sophisticated wedding at the Westin Dipolmat of Hollywood. Though we were battling the rain, it didn't damper the spirits of these two love birds. After the wedding they headed to Vail for a romantic honeymoon on the slopes, love it!

Lynette & Ryan, Married!

Lynette and Ryan had such a gorgeous wedding at Pierre's of Islamorada. I think the details of a wedding can truly change everything about the event, and Lynette knocked hers out of the park. From her understated, flowing JCrew gown, to the flower perched in her hair, her grandmothers vintage necklace and simply divine flowers, she had everything wedding dreams are made of. Not to mention the always stunning Moorings of Islamorada as a backdrop. From North Carolina, Lynette and Ryan couldn't be any sweeter or more down to earth. Their guests brought their southern charm (and accents) as well and created a buzz of happiness that surrounded their nuptials. It was a complete pleasure. Congrats!

When we imagine our groom seeing us for the first time, I think this is what we hope for...

Maria & Enrique, Married!

The weather for Maria and Enrique's wedding was absolutely amazing. They had the light, the temperature and bright blue sky that wedding dreams are made of. Their flawless day continued with a beautiful church ceremony and reception at the one and only Pierre's. Maria looked amazing and I absolutely loved her simple pink bouquet. Maria and Enrique's guests were also treated to a late night surprise (keep reading to find out!).

I loved her wedding colors, and stunning combination.

Sometimes walking in a wedding dress can be hard..... and funny.
Pierre's has to be one of the most elegant and relaxing spots on the planet.

Surprise! Maria had a surprise performance by Michael Jackson (ok fine, an impersonator...), he was amazing! So much fun!

Your Wedding & Lighting

As brides we often obsess over the colors, flowers, linens, and every little detail that helps create the ambiance that we want at our wedding. While brides are getting more and more creative and are creating more beautiful events than ever, there is one element so many overlook... LIGHTING! Every part of your wedding day is influenced by the light and planning for it and making the best decisions will ensure you get the beautiful images and atmosphere you are dreaming of.

First comes location selection. When visiting any venue notice the light and consider how it will be during your event. For getting ready, ideally select a tidy room with lots of large windows and space for you and your bridesmaids.

For the ceremony, if it is outdoors the perfect location is well lit with lots of open shade. Many of my keys weddings are sunset ceremonies, which are gorgeous, however then you must plan to do portraits beforehand as there will be no light after the ceremony to shoot in. Remember that on a beach or location without lights, we can use flashes to light you, but the landscape will be lost. Outdoors you also want to avoid having a ceremony in the middle of the day when light is the harshest and least flattering. Avoid dark, uneven shadows that will fall on your faces, try to position yourselves where you will be in even light.
If you are planning an indoor ceremony, seek out a location with windows and ambient light.

The reception, this is where lighting is sooo important! After the sun goes down you are dependent on the lighting of the venue that you select. It is very important to visit your venue when it is dark and see what you will be working with. Lighting can set the mood for your venue and has a dramatic influence in the quality of your reception photographs.
Uplighting is a wonderful option for any venue. With uplighting you can create a completely different ambiance for your space relatively affordably. Often your band or DJ will offer this service (you should inquire), however you can also hire a lighting crew to get even more creative.
Uplyte is a great one here in South Florida.

If you cannot afford to add uplighting consider candles, lantern or string lights. In my opinion you can never have too many candles and they are always romantic and beautiful. You can find bundles of small votives online very affordably. Lanterns can be rented from your florist or a rental company and are wonderful outdoors or in. If wind is a concern consider LED candles with no flame. All will help create a unique atmosphere and beautiful images. Enjoy!

Lauren & Roel, Married!!

Last weekend Lauren and Roel said 'I Do' at Pierre's of Islamorada in the Florida Keys, bringing together their families from New York and Belgium. Lauren and Roel met in Indonesia, have traveled the world together, and now Roel has moved to New York City with Lauren. Though we normally have gorgeous weather here in Florida, Saturday was slightly different with high winds and dark skies. This didn't stop them from having a heartfelt beach ceremony or from enjoying all the company that had joined them from around the world. Lauren and Roel offered their guests flip flops as they took to the beach, and later calligraphed compasses guided them to their seating. The bridal party looked wonderful, the girls wore JCrew and the men in khaki suits. Congrats to Lauren & Roel!

Kandace and Mario, Married!

Kandace and Mario married last weekend with 25 of their closet friends and family. The weather was perfect and as always The Moorings Village and Pierre's did not disappoint. Pastor Tony Hammons delivered a beautiful ceremony while the sun drifted below the horizon and two violinists played. They had a gorgeous day, Congrats!

Their absolutely adorable son...
I think this is what happiness looks like...
And my favorite images of the day...

Ashlee and Kenny, Married!

This last week Chad and I headed out to Nevada to shoot my dear friend Ashlee and Kenny's wedding. I have known Ashlee for ages and couldn't be happier to be apart of her day. They had a gorgeous, sunny afternoon and wed in the pasture at Ashlee's parents property in Gardnerville, Nevada. After the they exchanged vows their guests danced to country music, sat around fire pits, and drank beer. It was a warm, heartfelt country affair with kids, dogs, horses and plenty of tears. Ashlee made a stunning bride (which none of us ever doubted) and complimented her gorgeous ivory gown with her favorite cowboy boots. She also made her own centerpieces (for 312 guests, wow!) and they made a donation in their guests honor to their favorite charity Catch-A-Dream. You are a beautiful couple, congratulations!!

My mom did Ashlee's makeup which looked fantastic!
Love the thumbs up!

white wedding album

Today I received Susan & Robert's gorgeous white leather wedding album. They are my first couple to order in white leather, and I love it! I'm thinking I need my own white sample book now...

As always, gorgeous lay flat binding...

Jen and Mike Featured on Style Me Pretty!

I have always been such a HUGE fan of Style Me Pretty, it is a must on every bride’s list of blogs to get your daily dose of wedding inspiration! Abby of Style Me Pretty was kind enough to feature Jen and Mike as Jen did an AMAZING job with each detail of her wedding. You definitely should check it out! Thanks Style Me Pretty!!

Jen and Mike, Married!

I can’t even begin to express what a joy it was to photograph the wedding of Jen and Mike. I was not only thrilled when Jen asked me to shoot their wedding, but it is always so wonderful to get back to Nevada. I have known Jen since middle school and she has always been fun, full of energy and has the most amazing style. Mike, who I got to know leading up to the wedding, is the perfect compliment to her, easygoing and sweet. Together they had a gorgeous backyard wedding at their home in Gardnerville, Nevada. The weather was perfect and Jen’s sense of style did not disappoint. Before the wedding Jen and Mike met in the field near their house to see each other for the first time (always a great moment!), then we loaded the bridal party up and headed to several locations in the valley for portraits (thanks to Bentley for allowing us to use their wheat field!). Not only was the bridal party fun and easygoing, but great looking! It was a fast paced and fun day... Congrats Jen and Mike, I can’t wait to see what great things come to you both!

I shot Jen and Mike’s wedding on Saturday (which was incredible!!!), Jennie, Peter and their adorable kids on Sunday, and even got a chance to hike around Emerald Bay! Lots to come but until then I’ll leave you with a peek of Jen and Mike....

A wonderful website!

Today, as I do many days, I spent some time scouring the web for wedding inspiration. Though I have a few websites that I check regularly, like SMP and Oncewed (a great place to sell your used wedding dress). Today I found a new website that I will definitely add to my daily checklist... The Inspired Bride. They have posted wonderful ideas for cakes, fashion, decor, and color palettes. It struck me, as I have been trying to narrow down my color palette before I get too far into planning and this was so helpful! Check out some of these ideas from the Inspired Bride....

Dee and Abel, Married!

On Saturday Dee and Abel were joined by 6 family members and married at sunset in Islamorada at Pierre’s. They had an intimate and beautiful ceremony followed by dinner with their family. Though I only spent four hours with them, we were quickly making jokes and laughing together as old friends. They are a charming and beautiful couple, Congrats!

Vera Wang

I just received an email of a Q & A from Vera Wang. I thought it touched on something I think most brides go through so I thought I’d share:

Picture 18

I am recently engaged and although I am very excited about planning the wedding, I already feel overwhelmed. Everyone has an opinion. While I want everyone to feel included, I’m beginning to feel like it is not “my” wedding anymore…
The emotions around a wedding can be complicated. Despite the happiness, some couples feel a loss of freedom and identity as they negotiate with their family and friends, and with each other. The challenge is to avoid a block in the lines of communication.
An engagement is a time when people learn new things about each other – patience is essential. Intimacy is also important. Commit to quiet moments that will allow you to retain your sense of autonomy and to reconnect with your partner on a very basic level.
For a bride, remember to focus on elements that are truly “yours” – the wedding dress being one. Your dress should be the ultimate statement of “you” on your wedding day.

Vintage Plates

The theme for my wedding is ‘rustic elegance’ and from the start I was looking for personal touches throughout the wedding to give it that one of a kind feel. My mom came up with the brilliant idea to ask 10 women who are close family and friends to go out and collect vintage plates at their local antique store or along their travels. All the plates will be different and will be bought from all over the country. I loved the idea of getting the distant family and friends involved and think it will add a great feel to the tables.
While in Nevada we made invites. My dad came up with a poem for the message and we included a photo to express the look we are going for. Here they are......

Courtney and Ethan, Married! Rehearsal Dinner and Photobooth

Like many couples having wedding with a large group of out of town guests, Courtney and Ethan opted to include everyone in the rehearsal dinner and host a welcome party the night before their wedding. This is an option that I am a huge fan of (we will be doing it at our wedding!), it gives you more time with your guests, allows you to catch up with everyone, so by the wedding night you can just enjoy yourselves. They also decided that to ‘break the ice’ they would have a photo booth there as well. It is something we started a couple years ago as an alternative to the old fashioned photo booth. It is much more affordable, and gives you a lot more freedom to change the backgrounds, have props and get larger groups in photos. They did a great job getting a variety of props and after the cocktails started flowing everyone had a blast!

A beautiful setting for the outdoor welcome party...

Courtney and Ethan, Married! Part 1

Courtney and Ethan were married at the Four Seasons, Palm Beach. They had amazing weather (in spite of being hurricane season), a perfect setting, and a great group of friends and family. Courtney was stunning and together they are such an elegant and sweet couple. Susan and Trish of Exquisite Details planned the event flawlessly (as always!). The details were great and Chad and I had a blast shooting such a beautiful wedding. Here is the first post, check back for more!

Their first meeting was great. Something all my brides and grooms should do!
Their ring bearers, so cute!

Marjorie and Victor, Married!

Marjorie and Victor were married at the Hyatt, Ft. Lauderdale Pier 66. It was a stunning location for a wedding, and though the rain clouds were never far behind, Marjorie and Victor had a gorgeous celebration. Marjorie wore a beautiful latte gown and was a timeless and elegant bride. After exchanging vows, they celebrated high above Fort Lauderdale in the rotating tower of the Hyatt with their family and friends. Congrats Marjorie and Victor!

An Asian Inspired Affair

Here is a glimpse of a wedding I shot a couple weeks ago with my friend Joriann. It was a beautiful and colorful wedding that featured a traditional tea ceremony before the church ceremony. I loved the vibrant colors...

Maria and Henrique, Married!!

Maria and Henrique were married in at St. Justin Church in Key Largo followed by a beautiful reception at Pierre’s of the Moorings Village. Maria was a stunning bride, and I adore her style. She has a mild obsession with J Crew and bought her shoes and wedding dress there... (which I loved)!! I pretty sure that if anyone is sponsored by J Crew, Maria is. Her details were simple and tatseful, with baskets of daisies and small candles decorating Pierre’s table.
Henrique looked very handsome wearing a black tux. I loved the black tie affair mixed with the relaxing ambiance of the keys. With their friends and family from all over the globe they had one loud, happy and very classy celebration. I’m so happy for Maria and Henrique and I can’t wait to hear all about your hawaiian honeymoon!! Congrats!

Crazy flare!!

Thanks so much to Weddings Unveiled Magazine’s Blog for featuring the wonderful wedding of Paola and Jeremy in Mexico City on May 24th, 2008. How perfect for Cinco de Mayo!!! You can check out their blog and the post here. Happy Cinco de Mayo, and Happy 1 year to Paola and Jeremy!!

Susan and Robert, Married!

Susan and Robert married at Vizcaya in Miami. The london based couple planned such a stunning wedding that incorporated both Susan’s Asian heritage and Robert’s Polish heritage. Vizcaya is a stunning piece of historic Miami, and makes an incredible backdrop for a wedding. Susan designed her own bouquet that was made by Flowers Unlimited, and it is definitely the most unique bouquet I have ever shot, I love it! Susan had he makeup done by none other than Tatiana, (who is amazing!) and they had musicians from AA Music. Congrats to the newlyweds, have an amazing honeymoon!!

Sarah and Todd, Married!!

I apologize in advance for this incredibly long blog post, however, once you see the bride, groom and location, I think you will understand. Anyone who has read this blog before knows how much I LOVE Islamorada and Pierre’s of the Moorings. It is simply gorgeous and makes my job so easy and puts the couple in the best mood.
Sarah and Todd are adorable, genuine and from Ohio! (I actually meet with her in Cincinnati while visiting Chad when he was finishing school there). They were such a pleasure to work with and I think that everyone there found themselves wiping their eyes on several occasions. Congrats to the newlyweds and I hope to see you both next time I’m in Ohio!

I LOVE these little bowls..

The Maui Bride

While I was in Maui I took advantage of the beautiful landscapes and shot my friend Andrea in a beautiful dress compliments of Wings Hawaii, located in gorgeous Haiku. While mother nature was not exactly cooperative (it rained most of the time)... we still managed to have a great time and get some wonderful images. Thanks to Andrea, Manya, and Wings for your help!
And to any of my brides that are still looking for the perfect place to get married, Maui is the perfect setting for an exotic destination wedding!!

The Wedding of Laura and James

Last weekend Laura and James married overlooking the beach at the Jupiter Beach Resort. Laura, who once thought of herself as being 'awkward' in photos, couldn't have shot more stunningly. They are a beautiful couple, and there wasn't a dry eye during the ceremony. With many family members in from out of town, and out of the country (James is from New Zealand), the wedding was filled with the buzz of a destination wedding. It was a complete pleasure to be apart of their day!

Tomorrow I will be heading to Hawaii until the 14th of April... funny enough, I will be on the same island, and in the same area as Laura and James on their honeymoon! Hope to see you there! Enjoy!

Liz and Steve, Married!

When I first meet with Liz and Steve to discuss shooting their wedding, they gave me a tour of their adorable 1920's florida bungalow, and their backyard, that at the time consisted of dirt, overgrown trees and an empty pool. Their wedding was to be in 3 months, and would be held in that very backyard.

On Saturday when I arrived for the big day, I couldn't believe my eyes. Fresh flowers, newly laid sod, and a bright sparkling pool that had been sprinkled with petals. It was lovely. Liz and Steve managed to turn a dirt lot with a tear down into one of the best wedding locations ever, and they did almost all the work themselves.

The do it yourself story continued when friends of Liz's and myself Aria and Paola of D'Lish (so.dlish@yahoo.com) stepped in to plan the wedding. Not only did they plan, but they created flower arrangements, made invites, favors, and Aria even baked the wedding cake!!

They had a wonderful guitarist named Leiah Sicilliano, Liz's hair was done locally at Aqua Salon of Ft. Lauderdale, and her makeup was done by her best friend's sister Loli Ponce.
The wedding was relaxed, beautiful and reminded us all the simplicity is stunning. To see the full slideshow

One of my favorite shots of the day. Immediately after the ceremony Liz and Steve steal a kiss.
The grand finale, Liz and Steve jumping into their new pool for the very first time.... !

Liz and Steve, Sneak Peek!

Last Saturday Liz and Steve married in gorgeous tropical backyard ceremony. I absolutely loved the relaxed, happy and outdoor ambiance and can't wait to share my favorites! The full blog past is around the corner and here is a little peek to keep you til then!

Michelle and Russ, Rehearsal Dinner, Mexico

I love that in the past few years many couples are taking a rehearsal dinner and turning it into a welcome party for everyone. That is exactly what I hope to do with mine!
Michelle and Russ welcomed all their guests to Mexico with a Mexican buffet, mariachi band, and margaritas. They also chose to have me shoot the party as well. It was a great idea as there were many toasts and great moments throughout the night that will make a great addition to their album. Here is a glimpse...

Michelle and Russ Married!

Michelle and Russ were married at the H10 Ocean Turquesa in Cancun, Mexico. They had a beautiful rooftop wedding, a cabana pool side cocktail hour, followed by a rooftop reception. We had perfect weather and everyone was relaxed and in vacation mode, one of my favorite things about destination weddings!!
Michelle and Russ I hope you enjoy your safari honeymoon, I can't wait to hear all about it! Here is their really long wedding post(I couldn't help myself), to see the full slideshow

Michelle and Russell in Cancun, Mexico

This last weekend I traveled to Cancun to shoot Michelle and Russell's wedding. It was amazing! They are such a beautiful couple and they did such a great job with everything from picking a perfect hotel to the little details. I will have the full post up here soon, but until then here is a peek...

Jaime and Bob's Album

Yesterday I received Jaime and Bob's album. I LOVE getting albums in the mail and it is so exciting to see the final product. Jaime and Bob upgraded their album from my leather books to my Auckland albums. The parent albums are adorable, exact replicas of the large album measuring 7" x 7". Can't wait for you guys to get your hands on them, Enjoy!!

The Flower Bar

Yesterday Alex, the owner of The Flower Bar in Miami Shores asked me to come shoot some of the arrangements they had created for Valentines Day. Flower Bar has such a unique style that after seeing a few arrangements I knew they were perfect for my brides. They make beautiful table arrangements that would be such a decisive compliment to any wedding. They are modern, tropical, and so wonderful to photograph! I love all the use of orchids and how they were able to pair them with so many other flowers. If you haven't figured out what you are doing for your flowers, check this out and get inspired...

These two plants have been grafted together... what a great symbol of two growing into one, love it!

Gabriella and Enrique, Jan. 24 2009, Married

On Saturday, Joriann and I shot the beautiful wedding of Gabriella and Enrique. Not only was Gabriella stunning, but they had such a great family, and it was very clear that they were all about having a great party to celebrate the occasion. I loved shooting Gabby getting ready at her parents house, so Father of the Bride, and such a wonderful departure from hotel suites. Gabby and Enrique had their reception at the PGA National in Palm Beach complete with an hour of Carnival, an amazing party! Congrats you two!!

Her makeup was stunning
Boys being boys..

Monica, International Event Design

Last week I shot Monica, for her website and marketing materials. Monica is the lead event planner and owner of International Event Design, based in Miami. She was such a great sport during the shoot, and a lot of fun to be around! Event planners, especially Monica, take care of so many things when it comes to your wedding. They make the event run smoothly, reduce stress, and make my job so much easier- so I can focus on the photography! Whether you need someone for just the wedding day, or through the whole process, consider a planner- they're sooo worth it!!

FEATURED, Alison and Rick, The Knot Magazine

I am very happy to announce that the Spring/Summer 2009 issue of The Knot, Florida has featured Alison and Rick's April 12th, 2008 wedding at The Moorings, in Islamorada, Florida. Check it out on newsstands now!!

Kirstin and Eric, Married, Four Seasons Palm Beach

On January 3rd, Kristin and Eric married at the the Royal Poinciana Chapel with a reception at the Four Seasons in Palm Beach. Joriann and I had such a great time with these two, they are a adorable couple. Their wedding had a great vintage flair orchestrated by Kristin, she even used her grandmothers cameo on her bouquet. It was a gorgeous day for a wonderful couple, enjoy...

A New Year...

Welcome to 2009!! The holidays were amazing, spending them in Florida was relaxing and filled with sun, football and company. We ate too much, drank a little too much, and welcomed the new year with fireworks, job well done. The second day of 2009 I kicked it off with my first wedding of the year, of Laura and Johnathan with my friend Joriann. It was a beautiful day at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa.

Each table had a different family photo...

Tiffany and Aaron, Married, The Trump International, Sunny Isles

This past weekend, my friend Joriann and I shot Tiffany and Aaron's wedding at the Trump International in Sunny Isles. It is a great venue that is only minutes from where I live and yet, it was my first wedding there. Right on the beach, it has views of the ocean, the city and the waterways. Tiffany and Aaron are one of those couples that make shooting weddings truly a dream come true. They were so relaxed all day, and so obviously head over heels for one another. It was such a pleasure to be their capturing their day and I know they have a lifetime of happiness before them. Have a great time in Hawaii you two, Congrats!

Lola's Cupcakery

Lola's Cupcakery, located in Fort Lauderdale, and soon to be on Las Olas was kind enough to send be a batch of their cupcakes to me over the weekend. I was introduced to them by my friend, Monica of International Event Design. She had given me a Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake that was packaged in the most adorable golden box. I feel in love with the box and then after trying the cupcake, I was sold! I soon found out that they have over 20 flavors of cupcakes, some of my favorites included: Red Velvet, Key Lime, Rocky Road, even Margarita! They are beautifully presented, taste wonderful, and are even affordable with a dozen starting at $39! The individually packaged cupcakes make wonderful wedding favors, and ordering dozens can be a modern alternative to the traditional wedding cake. If you are tired of giving or receiving nicknacks that will end up in the trash, why not try cupcakes?

Brides in the Limlight Event at the Miami Seaquarium

Last week Chad and I attended a Brides in the Limelight event at the Miami Seaquarium's Sunset Cove. Sunset Cove is a new venue available for weddings, and has an amazing view of downtown, right on the water. The event was very well put together with food, drinks, and entertainment from DJ's to dancers. It was a great chance to meet other vendors and I can't wait to attend the next event!!

Nikki and Justin's Wedding, The Westin Diplomat

Last weekend I had the privilege of photographing Nikki and Justin's wedding at the Westin Diplomat in Hallandale for Jon Scott. They had an amazing crowd, amazing weather, and Nikki's nieces were the cutest little flower girls ever. Congrats!

The Wedding Salon Event

On Monday we attended the Wedding Salon Event for the first time. It was held at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. We meet so many great brides and vendors, it was a great first year experience. I am sure we will be back! Thanks so much to my finance Chad and Safaa for your help! Thanks Wedding Salon!

D'lish at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show

Two of my good friends Paola and Aria recently combined their culinary talents to form the event planning and catering company they have named D'lish. They are off to a quick start and have already begun catering many high end events including this years Fort Lauderdale boat show. The boat show is always a huge event, and I swung by their yacht to shoot some of their creations. They can handle events large and small (including weddings) and always have such a great way of presenting all their dishes. If you are looking for a catering or event planning you can reach them at: so.dlish@yahoo.com. Enjoy!

My Wedding Update

After going back and forth, and trying to decide WHERE to have our wedding.. we have also had to figure out the WHEN. We haven't been in a big hurry to set a date, or plan much of anything for that matter, but it had been our plan to tie the knot sometime in 2009. However, after finding the the right venue has proved very challenging, and it seems that it is simply bad timing for most of the important people in our lives, and bad financial times for almost everyone, we have decided to wait until 2010. We are still planning on Lake Tahoe, which to not do a winter wedding leaves you with about 3 months during the summer when you won't really have a chance of a freak snowstorm. So as of now we are thinking of June 2010. It sounds so far away, but if things keep up the way they do I am sure it will be here before we know it. This will give us the time to do it right, save money, and hopefully give our guests enough time to get prepared as well.

I definitely feel less stressed out with this decision and can focus on the projects at hand for KT Merry Photography. I have not made any vendor/venue decisions yet for the wedding, and think I will slowly start to now. Does anyone know of a great property in Lake Tahoe that would rent it out for my wedding?? Any other ideas? We're only going to do it once, better do it right!!

Veronica and Jeremy, El Conquistador, Puerto Rico 10.25.08

Veronica and Jeremy wed at El Conquistador hotel of Puerto Rico in true destination style. Most of their guests had been there for a few days before the wedding and had begin celebrating from the moment they arrived. They were a rowdy and excited bunch and I had caught bits of stories from earlier in the week of golf carts being rolled, shots, and hangovers to go 'round. You could say they were making the most of it!
Chris Joriann and I arrived on Friday to photograph the Saturday evening wedding and reception. The location was beautiful and Veronica, being a planner herself, did not miss any details. From all the groomsmen with monogramed shirts, to the bridesmaids matching monogramed jumpsuits, to bridesmaid cups, luggage tags for guests and it went on and on.. I always love the details!
After the wedding the party continued with dancing, dancing and more dancing. Veronica and Jeremy, (who I might add, have been dating for 10 years!) even finished the night off with a Dirty Dancing 'lift'. Congrats to Veronica and Jeremy and here's to many more years of celebrating!

Craziness and Puerto Rico!!

Well, the last week has been a little crazy busy, and I have been a bad, bad blogger. However, I will make it up!! I am so happy that season is back and the weather is finally getting cooler! I am busy with new and past brides and getting ready for the Wedding Salon Event at the Biltmore, November 10th. Which is invitation only, but if you'd like to go be sure to email me and I'll get you on the list so you can come see us!

This last weekend I was in Puerto Rico for Veronica and Jeremy's wedding. It was beautiful, and reminded me how much I love destination weddings! I will post more tomorrow but here is some eye candy for now!

Though I haven't had much time to work on planning my wedding, I have still been collecting ideas, images, and inspiration. We are gearing more towards a wedding in Lake Tahoe (the area I'm from), and haven't set a date, but looking at late this summer (if a miracle happens) or early summer 2010. Its been incredibly hard to find a outdoor venue on the lake. I have been looking at private homes mostly and many have restrictions (curfews, yuck!), or are just way too expensive. We are set on having everything mostly outdoors, and would love to either have the lake or a ranch type setting.
If you are a bride, I have found it very helpful to put together inspiration boards to show the feel, and mood that you would like on your day. It can give you a focus and direction. Here is my latest:

Nicole and Jeremy's Wedding, The Sunday House, Del Ray 10.10.08

I shot Nicole and Jeremy's wedding with the wonderful Chris Joriann this weekend at The Sunday House in Del Ray. I have been to the Sunday House for Brunch (so good!) but never for a wedding, and it was great! They have adorable little cottages and a tropical paradise that is great for smaller, intimate weddings. You would have never known is was October though, no one got the memo that Summer is supposed to be over, we were all melting!! Nonetheless, Nicole was stunning, and the whole wedding was beautiful.. Enjoy!

They have such a great blog, that I must admit, I am visiting everyday to see the real wedding posts and get ideas. Love it!
Thank you Alison and Rick for being such an amazing couple, and having the picture perfect wedding to match! Enjoy!

Amy and Billy's Wedding, Pierre's Islamorada, 9.27.08

Amy and Billy were married this last weekend in one of my favorite places, Islamorada. Though it turned out to be a bit of a wet day, it didn't dampen any of their spirits. They had a beautiful ceremony at San Pedro's Church, followed by a Pierre's reception. With a beautiful bride, adorable little kids, and a gorgeous venue the day was great. Check it out..

How cute are these guys!?!
Amy displayed photos from their parents weddings, love that!
Amy and Billy had more people spontaneously give speeches than I have ever seen, just shows how many people were really touched by their day.

Alison and Rick's Wedding Album!

I just received Alison and Ricks KISS Wedding Album and love it! I thought I'd share some images of the book to show a few of you what to expect... Check it out!

Smooth Italian leather...
Lovely printing....
Great binding and pages....

These are the adorable mini albums, that measure 3 5/8" x 3 5/8", they come in quantities of 9 and make great thank you gifts!

Debra and Matt, 08.16.08

This last weekend I got a chance to shoot with Joriann again who is always so fun. We shot Debra and Matt's wedding at the Ritz in Palm Beach. They had a beautiful wedding and Debra was stunning..

a little behind the scenes..

Here is an image from Sheila and Micheal's wedding that Joriann shot of me while we were shooting..

Sheila and Micheal, 8.9.08

This last weekend I shot Sheila and Micheal's wedding with Joriann of Chris Joriann Photography down in Coral Gables. She is a blast to shoot with, and it was a beautiful wedding. They got ready at the Biltmore, and the reception was held at Grove Isle Hotel.

The bouquet toss turned fight..

My Wedding Inspiration Pages

So I have put together some pages of ideas and inspiration from colors, locations, looks and feels. I think I really like the feel of them and would like it to be something outside, romantic and in the country. The problem is I haven't seemed to figure out where that is yet.. any ideas??

Jaime and Bob's Rehearsal and Hunewill Ranch

Here are some images from Jaime and Bob's rehearsal dinner the night before their wedding held at The Settlement in Bridgeport. The next morning before the wedding I also made it out to Hunewill Ranch to grab some images, I love it out there!

Jaime and Bob, Bridgeport, California, 7.12.08

Jaime and Bob had an amazing wedding at the Bridgeport Barn and Terrace in Bridgeport, California. Bridgeport is an amazing town near the border of California and Nevada and very dear to my heart, where I spent many of my summers wrangling at the Hunewill Guest Ranch. Jaime, also a former wrangler and now a vet, is a good friend and I have been close with her family for ages. Jaime and Bob are such a fun couple and together they have an amazing group of friends and family. Their day was heartfelt, full of laughter, tears, tequila, and country swing dancing. The ceremony was set in front of green pasture with the backdrop of the mountains and horses grazing in the distance. The Barn and Terrace (though I have been there many times it was the first wedding I had seen there) was an amazing venue. The walls, wood, fire-pits, flag, and location were perfect and created a beautiful ambiance where everyone was completely comfortable. Jaime and Bob kicked off their first dance to an upbeat country song and set the tone for the party that carried on into the night with everyone of the guests dancing. It was a great wedding, so amazing to see so many old friends and so great to be apart of their day. Congrats Jaime and Bob!

Lisa and Richard, The Moorings Islamorada, 7.10.08

After my flight was canceled I decided to take a detour and went to Las Vegas for the night with my dad and saw Garth Brooks in concert, so much fun and hands down the most amazing show I have ever seen! I was great to hang out in Sin City, but also so nice to be back in Miami! I have lots to blog about. Starting with Lisa and Richard...

They are a super sweet couple from South Carolina and were married on July 10th at
the Moorings in Islamorada. They held the ceremony on the beach with the officiant and Lisa's sister and her husband present, no other guests. It was intimate, beautiful and very relaxed. It was great to spend the afternoon with them (makes me want to move to the south!), and we had plenty of time to shoot on the beautiful grounds and for them to enjoy their day.

Such great outfits!

I love this shot of Lisa in the banyan tree

Richard with his new ring...

Christinia and Anthony, Palm Beach 6.7.08

Christinia and Anthony were married at the Saint Mark Greek Orthodox Church followed by a reception at the Ritz Carlton in Palm Beach. I shot this wedding for Jon Scott, and it was actually my first greek orthodox wedding and I loved it! I was only disappointed no one threw any plates on the ground (ha! I don't think the Ritz would have liked that!). The ceremony was amazing, and I loved the bubbles as they ran out of the church! Christinia and Anthony are a beautiful couple, that seemed to fit one another flawlessly. It was a beautiful day, check it out....

Liz and Patrick Slideshow, Ironstone Vineyards, California

Liz and Patrick, Ironstone Vineyards, Murphys California, 5.31.08

Liz and Patrick tied the knot at Ironstone Vineayrds, in Murphys California. The winery is nestled in the Sierra Foothills, in the heart of California's Gold Rush Country. It is family owned, off the beaten path- and well worth the trek. Mother nature must have known about the wedding because after a rainy, cold week, the skies opened up to perfect sunshine and wonderful temperatures. The setting of the ceremony was breathtaking under the large trees and a small stream separating the guests and bridal party. Right after saying I do, the newlyweds were picked up by a beautiful team of horses (Ned and Nate) and swept off. I love weddings with horses!
We couldn't have been given a more beautiful day. Liz and Patrick were very relaxed throughout the entire day, and Liz couldn't stop smiling. The reception was great, with Ironstone's wines atop the tables, and the party even sang along to Garth Brooks. They also had a bar of candy set up with little paper bags for you to scoop candy into. It was in large glass bowls as well as big lollipops placed into grass, it was a great idea and I loved how it looked. I hope to be back at Ironstone soon, it was truly a pleasure. Congrats to Liz and Patrick! Here is some of our day...

This shot cracks me up.. they are looking at the garter like it is the plague.. who says men are afraid of commitment?

Paola and Jeremy's Wedding, Mexico City, 5.24.08

Paola and Jeremy, 5.24.08. Their wedding was at Paola's father's ranch, Rancho La Rosarita, just outside of Mexico City. Paola and Jeremy have been great friends of Chad and I for a few years now, and somehow it seems that just yesterday they were getting engaged.
After spending a wonderful few days at Paola's mother, Lili's house, (who graciously opened her home to 5 girls and a baby!), the wedding arrived. Seeing that I was a bridesmaid, I did have certain duties, such as getting to the beauty salon at 8am (ahh!), and helping to make sure things went off without a hitch... and I couldn't help but shooting too!
Paola and Jeremy are both graduates from the Culinary Institute of America (where they meet), so hospitality is literally their business. They flawlessly blended the Mexican and Jewish traditions, ranch surroundings and timeless elegance, and gourmet
hors d'oeuvres to midnight mexican. With over 235 people, some speaking english, some spanish, everyone melted together and it was a hoping fiesta. They even had a mechanical bull, and if it couldn't get better, Paola rode on it in her gown!
I had such a great time and loved being a guest at a wedding. It also did happen to be my birthday (yippee!), and I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend it, drinking and dancing with people I love, it will be a tough act to follow next year! Here are a few of my favorite images from the day, Enjoy!

A little later in the night.... Chad, Paola, and Jeremy on the bull! So cool!

Orly and Devin, Ritz Carlton, 5.10.08

Orly and Devin were married at the Ritz Carlton on Saturday and I shot their wedding for Jon Scott. The weather was great, Orly looked amazing and everything went smoothly. Both Orly and Devin broke down to tears several times throughout the day, including Devin when he saw Orly for the first time. They are so in love! It was great to be apart of a couples day who had such a strong respect and love for each other, Congrats!

Francis and Heath, The Boca Resort, 5.9.08

Francis and Heath were married at the Boca Resort on May 9th. I shot this stunning wedding for Chris Joriann. It was so much fun, Francis and Heath are a gorgeous couple and as we learned throughout the day, truly compliment one another. She did a great job with the details of the wedding, and it was the first time that I had seen cherry blossoms used in the flowers and completely loved it! I lived in Japan for a couple of years growing up and always loved the cherry blossom trees. Check it out...

Is that not the redest hair you have ever seen??

Karlene and Matt

Karlene and Matt were married at St. Jude Catholic Church and had their reception at Del Ray Beach Marriott. I was shooting their wedding for Jonathan Scott , and couldn't have landed a sweeter couple.
They had a blast throughout the entire day, and had a energy packed reception. Karlene is from Trinidad so many of her relatives had made the trip. Judging from Karlene and her family, I came to the conclusion that Trinidad must have some of the most beautiful woman in the world, it was like attending a beauty pageant (and you should have seen them dance)! With over 315 people attending the celebration, during the party, somehow almost all of them were on the dance floor. Super fun, great smiles, and great luck to you both, though, I don't think you'll be needing it!!

What a sight!

Karlene could dance like you can't believe! In fact ALL the women in her family could, it was amazing!

Jessica and Brian, American Orchid Society, Del Ray

Jessica and Brian had a beautiful wedding at the American Orchid Society in Del Ray. It was a charming location for a wedding, and they paid great attention to all the details to give it the final touch. I loved the table pieces, and the outdoor reception, check it out...

Paola and Jeremy's kinda wedding, Key Biscayne

Yes, it was Paola and Jeremy's KINDA wedding. Paola and Jeremy are great friends of mine that will be tying the knot on May 24th in Mexico City. My boyfriend, Chad and I have the pleasure of being in the wedding party and can't wait! However, they decided to get hitched here before going to Mexico just for the legality aspect to avoid any issues. What started out as a trip to the courthouse turned into a super casual family ceremony on the beach followed by a BBQ. So, it was their wedding, kinda.
Here are some shots from the afternoon in Key Biscayne, I can't wait for the huge wedding in Mexico, watch for those images on May 24th.. even though I will have bridesmaid duties, you know I will be sneaking in some photos! Congrats guys!

I love this shot!

Jeremy and his Dad

Jeremy and Paola's buddies from the Coast Guard even did a fly by!

Alison and Rick's Slideshow

Alison and Rick's slideshow is now online! Check it out...

Here is another image from their wedding that Nicole had shot of me shooting them on the dock.... Thank goodness the key's water is shallow!

Alison and Rick, The Moorings, Isalmorada, Florida

Alison and Rick were married at Pierre's at The Moorings in Islamorada. I have been looking forward to their wedding for so long it was great to finally have it here. The weather was perfect, the Moorings were gorgeous as always, and Alison and Rick were so relaxed. It couldn't have been a smoother day.
There was a lot of emotion in the air, and tears flowing from beginning to end. It was truly flawless, from Arthur's (a huge black Newfoundland, and Alison's second love) surprise appearance at the ceremony, a beautiful sunset, to first rate fireworks over the ocean, nothing was overlooked. The wedding had a great flavor, from beachy keys to elegant and royal. Rick and Alison are such a sweet couple, I couldn't have had a better bride and groom to work with. And to make it even better, near the end of the night we opened a Photo Station to take portraits of the guests and everyone had such a great time with it... rubber fish, flamingos, hats and all. Thanks so much to Nicole and Katie who second shot, you were great! Rick and Alison, enjoy Italy and all the great pasta and wine!!

A little preview from the Photo Station...

Amazing Fireworks!

Sara and Mark, Coral Springs, 3.1.08

I can not say enough about this couple, except I don't think that I have laughed that much at a wedding yet. Sara and Mark, were so much fun! They were so relaxed and comfortable, that it seemed they had no doubts or worries in their minds the whole day. Both Sara and Mark have great senses of humor and I don't doubt that they will spend much of their marriage in laughter.. I can't think of anything better! I shot this wedding for my friend Jonathan and Jon Scott Photography, and I am so glad I had the opportunity, it was a blast!

And you thought the bride was the only one who had trouble getting into those dresses!

Emily and Joel, Boynton Beach, 3.8.2008

Emily and Joel are young, beautiful, and clearly in love. Their wedding was so great to shoot, you could feel the buzz in the air. I shot this wedding for my friend Marjorie, at Chris Joriann Photography, and am so glad I had the opportunity!! By the end of the night, my face hurt from smiling, guess I was smiling behind the lens all day! I hard a great time with them, you couldn't take a bad image of these two...
The girls were so cute.. they all showed up in jammies... I love it!

And any girl getting married, these are the coolest shoes ever. They are dancing shoes (super comfy), but made for a wedding. They even have the rough leather on the bottom so you don't slip!

Such a proud Dad!

I loved this dress!
And I did have a bit of competition!! Can you say Paparazzi?

Joel going for the garter... WOW!

Kelli and Eric, 3.7.2008

Kelli and Eric had an intimate ceremony in Palm Beach on Friday. Kelli was a beautiful bride, and somehow was able to plan the wedding in under a week, Superwoman! I am sure many women spending months in planning are reading this in envy! The sunset was beautiful, and Eric's mom performed the ceremony... I felt very privileged, I was the only person in attendance that wasn't family! Thanks for letting me be apart of your day!!

This is Harley. Not only does she have a super cool name (I'm a huge Harley Davidson fan!), but what a face..

This is Kelli's cutie, what a ham.. and a runner!!

Jenn & Gentry, Viscaya Gardens, Miami

Jenn & Gentry, had a fun, beautiful wedding at Viscaya in Miami. They changed after their main ceremony they had a traditional Korean ceremony, it was amazing! Once Jenn changed into her Korean outfit she said there was no way she was putting that tight gown back on! It was a great wedding to shoot, I loved the vibrant red!!

Ani & Xavier's Wedding, Miami Beach, 2.1.2008

Ani and Xavier celebrated their wedding on Friday the 1st. They had a beautiful catholic ceremony at St. Patricks in Miami Beach. Ani was a stunning....
The reception was at the Bass Museum (Art, not fish!) and was really creative and fun. It was a full blown party complete with ceviche, mojitos, and a mariachi band.. all surrounded by the beautiful exhibits of the Bass.
It was a blast, and WOW they could dance!

Connie & Edward, Mar-A-Lago, Palm Beach

Connie and Edward had a beautiful wedding at Trump's Mara-A-Lago in Palm Beach. It was very luxurious and elegant, and Connie and Edward are a very cheerful and down to earth couple, it made for a beautiful combination. Not to mention, that Mr. Trump, himself even made an appearance. Take a look..

A Tribute to Pamela, Jim and Sarah

I am very saddened to write that Pamela and Jim 11.17.2007 have suffered a great loss on Jan.7.2008 of Pam's sister Sarah, her Maid of Honor, who was killed in a tragic car accident. She was 26 and a mother of three little ones. My sympathies for Pam and her family. To everyone, please be safe, and buckle up.

Jen & Vadim's Wedding 11.19.2007

Jen and Vadim had a great beach wedding at The Moorings in Islamorada (which is such an amazing secret of the keys). They didn't spare any details, and had a very intimate sunset ceremony. Perfect weather, a charming couple, and an amazing location, and so much fun! Here is are some of my favorite shots...

Sara's Bridal Shoot

Here are a few images of Sara, during her bridal shoot, in Murphy's California from this last week..

Kiss and Show it!

Party Party!! Last night was the Kiss and Showit Bash for everyone here at PartnerCon in Los Angeles. Super Fun!!! Some free booze, dancing girls, and yes, a photo booth!! I love photo booth! Every wedding I shoot is now required to have one... (well not exactly, but would be cool right?). I think that I when I hit the lottery I will get three of them and put them all over my house....

Was a great party, we sported our Kiss hats (they did ensure free drinks).
Here we are (Sara, Myself, Liana, and Nicole)

Kevin Swan and the Girls!

And they had the coolest dancer, she did her whole routine with a hula hop. Sounds strange, but actually was pretty hot. I think that Britney Spears should give it a try.....

Booze, Music, Props, Lots of Photographers, and a Photo Booth... Hilarious!!

Yup.. we are big dorks, its been confirmed. Happy
