Jaime and Ben have the kind of love you notice, something rare and special. The laughing, drawn out kisses and soft glances made it hard not to smile along while witnessing such a sweet love.
After their I-do's on the beach, guests enjoyed dinner on the sand at the beautiful Morada Bay Beach Cafe which is truly picture perfect with it's colorful chairs, mason jar drinks and just the right kind of Key's charm. After dancing on the beach and what seemed to be a perfect evening, Jaime and Ben were surprised with a fireworks display over the water. A perfect ending to an amazing night and the perfect beginning for a beautiful couple in love.

friends and family Caitlin and Brian tied the knot on
a Wednesday at Pierre's in Islamorada. The closeness
and simplicity of smaller, intimate weddings always
touches me and this wedding was no exception.
While there, we got our first glimpse of Bridal Market, ran all over the city trying to soak it all in, and even did an amazing inspirational shoot for Aisle Candy (coming soon!). We also stumbled upon Tara LaTour who completely amazed us with her one of a kind wedding gown designs that are truly works of art. As Katie mentioned on Aisle Candy, she is truly a breath of fresh in the gown market and I can't wait to see what beauty she produces next.

Jennifer and Tim hosted their
wedding at the beautiful Pierre's in Islamorada. They
started their day getting ready at the Moorings
Village and taking portraits on their picturesque
property. Jennifer looked beautiful and was nothing
but laughs throughout the day. They chose a crab as
the weekend's mascot, which graced everything from
their invitation to custom Saucony sneakers for all
of the guests! After the ceremony Jennifer and Tim
boarded a boat for a short cruise to watch the sunset
and catch a glimpse of the super moon, so beautiful!

Some people have that little
something, a sparkle or energy that people can't help
but notice or laugh along with. Jacque has this
something. Together with Bret, they make such a fun

Never taking herself too seriously Jacque embraced
her wedding day with open arms. Mother nature smiled
right back at her delivering sunshine and a beautiful
day on the beach. With the help of

driftwood, cherry blossoms and coral that
complimented the Cheeca Lodge's natural beauty. Later they

I had a beautiful morning here

it's tough to leave 75 and sunny behind, I'm so
excited to see old friends, learn something new and
to be inspired. I'll see you in a week!
An intimate evening, a lovely bride
and handsome groom and stunning details made this
wedding so wonderful to photograph. Natalia and Eric
hosted forty of their closest family and friends at
the modern and exclusive Setai in South Beach.
Natalia was beautiful in her flowing gown accompanied
by stunning jewelry from Tiffany. To match the feel
of their modern venue, Natalia later traded her ivory
chiffon sash for a long black sash tied in a soft
bow. The day was beautifully intimate and such a
pleasure to be apart of.

The Breakers of Palm Beach, originally built
in 1896, is a masterpiece of elegance, history and
tradition. Ashley and Luke couldn't have found a
better setting for their romantic and timeless
wedding. They exchanged vows overlooking the ocean
and the hotel's namesake breakers that line the
beach. Later guests opened the doors to a
beautifully light and utterly breathtaking
ambiance in the Circle ballroom. Ashley and Luke

only had eyes for one another. Congratulations

As many of you know I am an animal lover through and
through. When I'm not busy with weddings I am
probably hanging with Chad and

Intimate weddings have such a charm and sweetness
about them that I love to capture, and this wedding
was no exception. Sunny skies, kisses and
laughter were the ingredients for this
affair. The day was such a pleasure to be a
part of and we couldn't have gotten to know a sweeter
couple. Maria and Ralph are so in love and have
so much fun together I couldn't help but laugh along
with them behind my camera. Maria was amazing
with her details and had me green with envy when I
saw her gorgeous heels, they are definitely show
stoppers and my new favorites! With gorgeous
colorful details, a first dance on the beach, and
sparklers this wedding left little to be
desired. Congratulations Maria and
Ralph, keep laughing together!
During the wedding ceremony the officiant accidentally skipped the vows they had written for one another. What could have been a wedding mishap turned into a beautiful moment when they snuck off alone during cocktail hour to read their vows to one another. Emily and Will hosted an intimate
destination wedding at the Cheeca Lodge & Spa
Florida. Forty of their closest family and friends
traveled from Texas to join in the casual
celebration. Emily and Will were married by
Emily's Grandfather who had not only married her
parents but baptized Emily as well. The couple
exchanged vows with a stunning view of the ocean
and crystal clear sky. The wedding truly couldn't
have been more pleasant.
It was such a pleasure to be apart of such an intimate affair and get to know all of the couple's lovely family and feel the warmth of their southern hospitality. Congrats Emily and Will!

We stayed at a 300 year old Hacienda,

one of a kind. We spent a week with a handful of
the wedding industries top professionals and
talented photographers from all over the world.
The entire trip was inspiring and truly a breath

Greeted with golden winter light
and perfect temperatures, Jennifer and Rell couldn't
have been offered a more perfect day. Casa Marina
played host to their intimate destination wedding in
Key West with guests from all over the country. The
mood was beautifully relaxed as they exchanged vows

the sunset. Jennifer and Rell have been together for
11 years and their ease and comfort with one another
was apparent as they spent most of the day laughing.
It was a beautiful event and a perfect way to end our
amazing year of weddings.

Leslie and Felipe stunned at their
downtown Miami wedding. Not only are they a beautiful
couple but they are truly genuine and sweet people.
Leslie was an exquisite bride that didn't miss a

There is something about a gorgeous
New York City wedding that makes everyone's heart do
a little flip. Perhaps it's the timeless feel of the
city, the excitement that floats through the New York
air, or the facts that it is the fashion capital and
simply romantic. Pola and Oliver, both originally
from Germany, fell for New York's charm many years
ago. Their ceremony took place at the architecturally
grand St. Paul's chapel of Columbia University. They
later chose a NYC Taxi Cab to drive them from their
ceremony to the Gramercy Park
which can only be described as True Blood meets
european flair. The exclusive venue played host to
their rooftop terrace reception and cocktail hour
16 floors above the city. The cocktail hour was
chic romantic with the amazing Bon Musique playing
under hundreds of light bulbs. Pola and Oliver
shared an intimate dinner with their guests and
enjoyed speeches in English and German before
dancing the night away under the stars. The entire
affair was elegant and so perfectly New York.
Congratulations Pola & Oliver, such a beautiful wedding can only lead to a beautiful life.

If you haven't gotten the memo:
succulents rock! They are gorgeous in bouquets, on
wedding tables and even on your cake. Here are
succulents I shot while in Hawaii on our honeymoon

promise!). I absolutely love the color palette in
this image and think it would translate beautifully
to any wedding.
Andrea and Nils hosted a classy
wedding day celebration at Palm Beach's posh
Omphoy Hotel. The ceremony was beach side on
the hotel terrace and the couple tied the knot
under a wooden pagoda. Cocktails followed in the
hotel lounge where guests greeted the newlyweds
with cheers. Dinner was served upstairs in
Michelle Bernstein's restaurant where guests
celebrated the night away singing traditional
Swedish songs and toasting with Swedish vodka!
Andrea and Nils' wedding was a delight to shoot and the couple looked stunning as you can see from this sneak peek. Enjoy!
Alexa and Tom were married on their family farm,
Ivanhoe Farms just outside of Chicago. The farm is
absolutely stunning and was the perfect backdrop for
their elegant affair. The farm has been in their
family for generations and is full of stunning
antiques and heirlooms, an amazing place for a
wedding. Alexa wore a timeless Vera Wang gown while
the men wore classic tuxedos. After their small
church ceremony the couple released Monarch
butterflies before they departed in the family's
vintage Rolls Royce. The cocktail hour was poolside
accompanied by a trio of strings and floating floral
arrangements. Later the guests danced to the TVK
Orchestra under a high top tent. It was truly an
elegant affair and we had such a blast shooting in
such a unique destination with such wonderful
families. We can't wait to get back to Chicago!

I have been so busy with weddings
every weekend that I haven't had much to plan and
blog about our own wedding. Today, May 11th, we are
officially a month away! It is amazing how quickly 2
years (Yes, engaged for almost 2 years!) has flown by
and all the things that I put off til 'later' are now
upon us. While I am intentionally not blogging all
the details just yet (have to keep some things a
surprise) I do promise complete blog posts detail by
detail after the wedding. I have already learned so
much about planning and weddings and how it is all so
much fun and all so hard! I think that planning a
wedding is an ultimate self exploration and you learn
so much about partner as well. While I still have yet
to feel what it is like to experience the day I have
taken over a year to plan, I have learned enough to
know it will be over in the
blink of an eye!
That is why, for us, photography was absolutely number one (shocker!). Deciding on a photographer for our wedding was beyond challenging. Not only did we have many talented friends offer to help us capture our day, but there are so many talented photographers I admire and I am incredibly indecisive! We wanted our friends to be at the wedding as 'friends' and wanted a photographer whose style reflected the type of wedding we are choosing to have and how we want to remember it. After months of debate and soul searching we both excitedly agreed that we wanted none other than Jose Villa to capture our day. He is one of the most talented photographers and artists in the business and his work is one of a kind. Jose's style embodies everything I was looking for... it is real, natural, breathtaking and romantic. He loves outdoor locations, details and one of a kind events- simply perfect! Here are a few of the many reasons we love Jose so much and can't wait to have him at our wedding
(all images copyright Jose Villa)
Need I say more? I love living behind the camera, and for maybe the first time ever can't wait to be in front of the lens!!! Check out Jose's blog for more gorgeous wedding inspiration.
I am in love with this setting and the glassware. If anyone can tell me where to find those wine glasses, I will love you forever!

First comes location selection. When visiting any venue notice the light and consider how it will be during your event. For getting ready, ideally select a tidy room with lots of large windows and space for you and your bridesmaids.
For the ceremony, if it is outdoors the perfect location is well lit with lots of open shade. Many of my keys weddings are sunset ceremonies, which are gorgeous, however then you must plan to do portraits beforehand as there will be no light after the ceremony to shoot in. Remember that on a beach or location without lights, we can use flashes to light you, but the landscape will be lost. Outdoors you also want to avoid having a ceremony in the middle of the day when light is the harshest and least flattering. Avoid dark, uneven shadows that will fall on your faces, try to position yourselves where you will be in even light.
If you are planning an indoor ceremony, seek out a location with windows and ambient light.
The reception, this is where lighting is sooo important! After the sun goes down you are dependent on the lighting of the venue that you select. It is very important to visit your venue when it is dark and see what you will be working with. Lighting can set the mood for your venue and has a dramatic influence in the quality of your reception photographs.
Uplighting is a wonderful option for any venue. With uplighting you can create a completely different ambiance for your space relatively affordably. Often your band or DJ will offer this service (you should inquire), however you can also hire a lighting crew to get even more creative. Uplyte is a great one here in South Florida.
If you cannot afford to add uplighting consider candles, lantern or string lights. In my opinion you can never have too many candles and they are always romantic and beautiful. You can find bundles of small votives online very affordably. Lanterns can be rented from your florist or a rental company and are wonderful outdoors or in. If wind is a concern consider LED candles with no flame. All will help create a unique atmosphere and beautiful images. Enjoy!

The stunning view from Pierre’s...
I am recently engaged and although I am very excited about planning the wedding, I already feel overwhelmed. Everyone has an opinion. While I want everyone to feel included, I’m beginning to feel like it is not “my” wedding anymore…
The emotions around a wedding can be complicated. Despite the happiness, some couples feel a loss of freedom and identity as they negotiate with their family and friends, and with each other. The challenge is to avoid a block in the lines of communication.
An engagement is a time when people learn new things about each other – patience is essential. Intimacy is also important. Commit to quiet moments that will allow you to retain your sense of autonomy and to reconnect with your partner on a very basic level.
For a bride, remember to focus on elements that are truly “yours” – the wedding dress being one. Your dress should be the ultimate statement of “you” on your wedding day.
While in Nevada we made invites. My dad came up with a poem for the message and we included a photo to express the look we are going for. Here they are......
A beautiful setting for the outdoor welcome party...

Their first meeting was great. Something all my brides and grooms should do!
Their ring bearers, so cute!
Henrique looked very handsome wearing a black tux. I loved the black tie affair mixed with the relaxing ambiance of the keys. With their friends and family from all over the globe they had one loud, happy and very classy celebration. I’m so happy for Maria and Henrique and I can’t wait to hear all about your hawaiian honeymoon!! Congrats!

Sarah and Todd are adorable, genuine and from Ohio! (I actually meet with her in Cincinnati while visiting Chad when he was finishing school there). They were such a pleasure to work with and I think that everyone there found themselves wiping their eyes on several occasions. Congrats to the newlyweds and I hope to see you both next time I’m in Ohio!

Tomorrow I will be heading to Hawaii until the 14th of April... funny enough, I will be on the same island, and in the same area as Laura and James on their honeymoon! Hope to see you there! Enjoy!
On Saturday when I arrived for the big day, I couldn't believe my eyes. Fresh flowers, newly laid sod, and a bright sparkling pool that had been sprinkled with petals. It was lovely. Liz and Steve managed to turn a dirt lot with a tear down into one of the best wedding locations ever, and they did almost all the work themselves.
The do it yourself story continued when friends of Liz's and myself Aria and Paola of D'Lish (firstname.lastname@example.org) stepped in to plan the wedding. Not only did they plan, but they created flower arrangements, made invites, favors, and Aria even baked the wedding cake!!
They had a wonderful guitarist named Leiah Sicilliano, Liz's hair was done locally at Aqua Salon of Ft. Lauderdale, and her makeup was done by her best friend's sister Loli Ponce.
The wedding was relaxed, beautiful and reminded us all the simplicity is stunning. To see the full slideshow click here. Congratulations Liz and Steve!

I definitely feel less stressed out with this decision and can focus on the projects at hand for KT Merry Photography. I have not made any vendor/venue decisions yet for the wedding, and think I will slowly start to now. Does anyone know of a great property in Lake Tahoe that would rent it out for my wedding?? Any other ideas? We're only going to do it once, better do it right!!
Chris Joriann and I arrived on Friday to photograph the Saturday evening wedding and reception. The location was beautiful and Veronica, being a planner herself, did not miss any details. From all the groomsmen with monogramed shirts, to the bridesmaids matching monogramed jumpsuits, to bridesmaid cups, luggage tags for guests and it went on and on.. I always love the details!
After the wedding the party continued with dancing, dancing and more dancing. Veronica and Jeremy, (who I might add, have been dating for 10 years!) even finished the night off with a Dirty Dancing 'lift'. Congrats to Veronica and Jeremy and here's to many more years of celebrating!
This last weekend I was in Puerto Rico for Veronica and Jeremy's wedding. It was beautiful, and reminded me how much I love destination weddings! I will post more tomorrow but here is some eye candy for now!
If you are a bride, I have found it very helpful to put together inspiration boards to show the feel, and mood that you would like on your day. It can give you a focus and direction. Here is my latest:
They have such a great blog, that I must admit, I am visiting everyday to see the real wedding posts and get ideas. Love it!
Thank you Alison and Rick for being such an amazing couple, and having the picture perfect wedding to match! Enjoy!
How cute are these guys!?!
Amy displayed photos from their parents weddings, love that!
Amy and Billy had more people spontaneously give speeches than I have ever seen, just shows how many people were really touched by their day.
Smooth Italian leather...
Great binding and pages....
These are the adorable mini albums, that measure 3 5/8" x 3 5/8", they come in quantities of 9 and make great thank you gifts!
The Rehearsal Dinner
Leslie's border collie pup
They are a super sweet couple from South Carolina and were married on July 10th at the Moorings in Islamorada. They held the ceremony on the beach with the officiant and Lisa's sister and her husband present, no other guests. It was intimate, beautiful and very relaxed. It was great to spend the afternoon with them (makes me want to move to the south!), and we had plenty of time to shoot on the beautiful grounds and for them to enjoy their day.
Such great outfits!
I love this shot of Lisa in the banyan tree
Richard with his new ring...
We couldn't have been given a more beautiful day. Liz and Patrick were very relaxed throughout the entire day, and Liz couldn't stop smiling. The reception was great, with Ironstone's wines atop the tables, and the party even sang along to Garth Brooks. They also had a bar of candy set up with little paper bags for you to scoop candy into. It was in large glass bowls as well as big lollipops placed into grass, it was a great idea and I loved how it looked. I hope to be back at Ironstone soon, it was truly a pleasure. Congrats to Liz and Patrick! Here is some of our day...
This shot cracks me up.. they are looking at the garter like it is the plague.. who says men are afraid of commitment?
After spending a wonderful few days at Paola's mother, Lili's house, (who graciously opened her home to 5 girls and a baby!), the wedding arrived. Seeing that I was a bridesmaid, I did have certain duties, such as getting to the beauty salon at 8am (ahh!), and helping to make sure things went off without a hitch... and I couldn't help but shooting too!
Paola and Jeremy are both graduates from the Culinary Institute of America (where they meet), so hospitality is literally their business. They flawlessly blended the Mexican and Jewish traditions, ranch surroundings and timeless elegance, and gourmet hors d'oeuvres to midnight mexican. With over 235 people, some speaking english, some spanish, everyone melted together and it was a hoping fiesta. They even had a mechanical bull, and if it couldn't get better, Paola rode on it in her gown!
I had such a great time and loved being a guest at a wedding. It also did happen to be my birthday (yippee!), and I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend it, drinking and dancing with people I love, it will be a tough act to follow next year! Here are a few of my favorite images from the day, Enjoy!
A little later in the night.... Chad, Paola, and Jeremy on the bull! So cool!
Is that not the redest hair you have ever seen??
They had a blast throughout the entire day, and had a energy packed reception. Karlene is from Trinidad so many of her relatives had made the trip. Judging from Karlene and her family, I came to the conclusion that Trinidad must have some of the most beautiful woman in the world, it was like attending a beauty pageant (and you should have seen them dance)! With over 315 people attending the celebration, during the party, somehow almost all of them were on the dance floor. Super fun, great smiles, and great luck to you both, though, I don't think you'll be needing it!!
What a sight!
Karlene could dance like you can't believe! In fact ALL the women in her family could, it was amazing!
Here are some shots from the afternoon in Key Biscayne, I can't wait for the huge wedding in Mexico, watch for those images on May 24th.. even though I will have bridesmaid duties, you know I will be sneaking in some photos! Congrats guys!
I love this shot!
Jeremy and his Dad
Jeremy and Paola's buddies from the Coast Guard even did a fly by!
Here is another image from their wedding that Nicole had shot of me shooting them on the dock.... Thank goodness the key's water is shallow!
There was a lot of emotion in the air, and tears flowing from beginning to end. It was truly flawless, from Arthur's (a huge black Newfoundland, and Alison's second love) surprise appearance at the ceremony, a beautiful sunset, to first rate fireworks over the ocean, nothing was overlooked. The wedding had a great flavor, from beachy keys to elegant and royal. Rick and Alison are such a sweet couple, I couldn't have had a better bride and groom to work with. And to make it even better, near the end of the night we opened a Photo Station to take portraits of the guests and everyone had such a great time with it... rubber fish, flamingos, hats and all. Thanks so much to Nicole and Katie who second shot, you were great! Rick and Alison, enjoy Italy and all the great pasta and wine!!
A little preview from the Photo Station...
And you thought the bride was the only one who had trouble getting into those dresses!
The girls were so cute.. they all showed up in jammies... I love it!
And any girl getting married, these are the coolest shoes ever. They are dancing shoes (super comfy), but made for a wedding. They even have the rough leather on the bottom so you don't slip!
Such a proud Dad!
I loved this dress!
And I did have a bit of competition!! Can you say Paparazzi?
Joel going for the garter... WOW!
This is Harley. Not only does she have a super cool name (I'm a huge Harley Davidson fan!), but what a face..
This is Kelli's cutie, what a ham.. and a runner!!
The reception was at the Bass Museum (Art, not fish!) and was really creative and fun. It was a full blown party complete with ceviche, mojitos, and a mariachi band.. all surrounded by the beautiful exhibits of the Bass.
It was a blast, and WOW they could dance!
Jen and Vadim had a great beach wedding at The Moorings in Islamorada (which is such an amazing secret of the keys). They didn't spare any details, and had a very intimate sunset ceremony. Perfect weather, a charming couple, and an amazing location, and so much fun! Here is are some of my favorite shots...
Was a great party, we sported our Kiss hats (they did ensure free drinks).
Here we are (Sara, Myself, Liana, and Nicole)
Kevin Swan and the Girls!
And they had the coolest dancer, she did her whole routine with a hula hop. Sounds strange, but actually was pretty hot. I think that Britney Spears should give it a try.....
Booze, Music, Props, Lots of Photographers, and a Photo Booth... Hilarious!!
Yup.. we are big dorks, its been confirmed.
I need to pick one that will be framed as their wedding present. Let me know what you guys think..
Bella. What an appropriate name
And, they could dance too!!
I had a great time, thanks for having me!!
