I have had a love affair with lavender for many, many years. The smell, the soft shades of purple and the simplicity of this rustic, yet elegant flower has always had me swooning over it. So, this summer when I realized that we would coincidentally be in Sonoma during the week of the lavender bloom my mind immediately went into overdrive to coordinate a wedding editorial shoot all about lavender and weddings, and how they are meant to be together. With the help of some amazingly talented vendors, and after a day of nonstop rain in Sonoma, we did just that, and may have created one of my favorite shoots to date... 
 

At some point while brainstorming for this shoot I stumbled upon Maria Carr's blog, Dreamy Whites. I instantly fell in love with her style and her store. Her blog quickly became an obsession of mine and the new inspiration for our next home (that Chad isn't aware I'm already building in my mind). After contacting Maria, she eagerly agreed to collaborate with my cousin Sara, of Sara Jean Events, who was already on board to produce the shoot (did you notice the adorable flower girl above? That's her daughter Reese who was my flower girl as well!). Sara and Maria turned out to be a design and style dream team bringing to life our lavender, meets french farmhouse elegance, meets Sonoma beauty vision.  
Combining these talents with two custom made headpieces from our favorite, Jannie Baltzer, drop dead gorgeous Carolina Herrera wedding gowns from Ever After, and a soft romantic gown from Ivy and Aster, we had perfection.  
My own wedding invitation designer, Kari Dyas created a complete stationary package that, as all her work does, embodies the hand made, one of a kind feel that adds the perfect detail to a wedding. 
Our picture perfect location, Sonoma Lavender, sits in the heart of Sonoma, California with neighbors such as Chateau St. Jean and Kenwood Inn (the perfect honeymoon hideaway, I know from personal experience). The beautiful lavender fields could not have been a better location for our shoot with the bees buzzing and smell of lavender in the air... 
Lastly, what could be more romantic than to have a plien aire painter such as Sonoma's Wendy Brayton off in the distance during your vows and reception creating a one of a kind piece of art for you to hang in your new home as husband and wife? I know, not much...
